Hotel with a History

The hotel was built between 1974 and 1979 by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. It was initially called Vitosha New Otani and unofficially known as the Japanese Hotel. Located on the highest point in Sofia, Vitosha-New Otani Hotel illustrates the traditional ties between Bulgaria and the country of the rising sun, Japan. The interior combines tradition and comfort with innovative and modern design. It is successfully preserving the line of Japanese architecture embedded in the hotel's construction, confirmed by the CEO of "Kisho Kurokawa Architect & Associates", Akira Kumazawa, during his visit to the hotel in 2016. He described the hotel as a place that continues to remind us of the good traditional relations between the country of the rising sun, Japan, and Bulgaria.
